Looking to purchase a single stick of Corsair Dominator Platinum 8GB DDR3 2133mhz 1.65v 9-11-11-31, and add it to the system listed below.

The clocks, timings and voltage are all the same- but I'll be introducing a 3rd stick into 2 stick dual channel setup (not sure if that introduces draw-backs?) and also mixing memory sizes (2x4gb + 1x8gb, not sure of compatibility issues with these sort of setups).

If anyone could give me a little advice it would be super appreciated! Cheers.

Not a problem, especially since they have equal XMP timings and frequency.

They should play together fine as long as you're not trying XMP or anything crazy.  There's no guarentee you'll see improved performance in whatever you're attempting, but you shouldn't see a downgrade either.  Dual Channel's benefits rarely come into play, although it's peace of mind for me to have symmetrical RAM.

Thank you everyone for the responses, I currently am using XMP to take advantage of the 2133mhz speed- I guess I'd have to disable it before installing the extra stick?

I'm not looking for a performance boost so much as I am hoping to put less reliance on my slow SATA drive during gameplay. By adding more RAM I was hoping to gain more overhead to avoid maxing it's capacity out via the large amount of texture data in modern games.

Does that make any kind of sense? Or am I barking up the wrong tree? Should I instead be looking for a higher amount of VRAM on a graphics card?
