Whats the best MOBO for a LGA775 socket

Go to solution Solved by Jurrunio,

8GB RAM? You mean a socket 775 mobo that supports 8GB DDR3 stick? No, none of the 775 motherboards support it. The memory controller isnt compatible with newer (higher capacity) memory dies which makes up 8GB sticks and single-sided 4GB sticks. If you want to get 16GB memory capacity then you will need a 4x4GB configuration.

If you are talking about using 2 4GB double sided RAM to make 8GB capacity, then pretty much every mobo with DDR3 support can do it. Like for example, the MSI G41 P33 Combo I used in the past.

OK so i have a old intel E7400 lying around which i want to turn into a general use media centre type of pc running KODI or some Linux distro but I don’t want compromise future upgrades or Windows support, so tl;dr I need DDR3 memory support on my motherboard but everything I fount online was DDR2 or or DDR3 with only up to 4GB of Ram if someone can recommend a DDR3 LGA775 that has up to 8GB RAM support that would be great..

Thanks :)

for kodi you'll want the smallest motherboard you can get.

huge case beside the tv is a bad spectacle.

4 gb is enough for kodi.

You might wanna get an android tv box for just watching kodi, it's less than $50.

Plug and play and ready to go. And its low power.
