Laptop shuts down on sleep / inactivity

DieselWeasel

Hi guys,

my brother has a problem with his laptop. The problem is that when he clicks Sleep in the Start menu, the computer goes into Shut down. The same happens when he pushes the Power button.

This happens despite all settings (for both plugged and unplugged modes) are set to put the computer to Sleep, not to Shut down.

Additionally, the computer goes to Sleep when inactive for a couple minutes, again despite the settings for all Power plans and plugged/unplugged are set to Never go to sleep/shut down.

Does anyone know what could be happening?

He has Windows 10 Home installed on an Aspire A515-51G laptop.

Thanks

You might want to check the power settings. Here you can modify behaviour of the powerbutton. Also its possible that hybernate/sleep is disabled. Example below, keep in mind that my windows is in Dutch. (Mistake at install xD) Also, possible but unlikely hibernation file can be disabled.

When I don't know the fix, I reinstall the entire operating system.

Has it always been like that or is it new?
