Which Laptop is better?

HP ProBook 640  OR Acer Aspire 1

I'm just looking for something simply to do school work, watch shows on and run very low requirement games like Slay the Spire for mild entertainment.

I need something with 3x USB ports. Prefer 14in or more and SSD is a must. HDD is just too slow. especially at 5400rpm

I sincerely hate the idea of recommending an HP ProBook after all the problems my company has had with them, but that Acer won't be able to handle any kind of gaming on that Craperon.

I'd look on eBay for a used barebones Latitude E6410, E6420 or ThinkPad T420 or T430 that comes without a hard drive, then buy an SSD to drop into it. Latitudes and ThinkPads are supremely upgradeable, and they're built to last.

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.

Have you considered a used ZBook? Not sure about the 13" ones, but the 14 and 15 inchers come with dedicated FirePros.

Daily Driver: Asus ROG Flow X13 - 5900HS/3050 Ti

Primary Desktop: NCase M1 - 5800X3D/RX 6950XT

Travel PC: Fractal Terra - 5800X/RTX 3060 Ti

I have too many computers. List here.

  • The ProBook has a CPU Score of 4404 (4300M CPU) while the Aspire 1 has a CPU Score of 1833 (N3450 CPU)
  • The ProBook has an iGPU Score of 710 ( HD4600 ) while the Aspire 1 has a iGPU score of ~573 (HD500)
  • Both have 4GB of RAM

So... the ProBook beats the Aspire by 240% in CPU and by 24% in GPU. I'd go with the ProBook.

It does cost you 100$ more, but it should last longer (And you may be able to upgrade RAM later).

As for running dedicated games - it may be able to do it. I'm unsure.

Some of the later models (G3 and later) have AMD FirePros and switchable graphics

EDIT: Realized those were a lot more expensive, oh well. It's essentially a GT750m though, so it's certainly capable in most games.
