SSHD or SSD?

Hi

I´m looking for a cheap solution to store about 1tb of data. I´d like it to be as fast, reliable and cheap as possible. Which option should I choose?

SSHD or HDD. 1TB SSDs are still too pricey.

Don't get an sshd they are terrible. Get a 1tb hard drive with a smaller sized ssd. If you really want fast storage go for an ssd, but don't consider the sshd anyway.

Obviously 1TB HDD + 120gb SSD or higher. SSHDs are unpredictable (as in you don't know what will be in the cache/flash memory). SSDs and HDDs combo actually have the ability of you deciding what to add onto the SSD or HDD.

IMO, 250GB SSD + 1TB HDD is the sweetspot.

I wouldn't get an SSHD. For cheapness, a 1TB WD Blue or some equivalent would be fine.

Like everyone else said -- do not get an SSHD. I have one in my Lenovo and it is constantly at 100% Disk Usage. And the drive is healthy. Annnd I have done tons of searching to find a solution to its terrible performance. The only thing that helps at all is disabling the page file and that comes with its own performance problems.

I have a SSHD in one computer and a WD Black HDD in another. I get similar speeds out of both. However the Black drive is much more consistent. 

The benefit of an SSHD Is quite limited. 

If you need large storage and you want speed, I would recommend a higher end mechanical HDD. One that runs at 7200rpm, has a decent cache size, etc. I would strongly recommend a WD Black drive if you are wanting a fast mechanical HDD. And if your PC supports it, you can compliment it with Optane!
