First thing. Check your firewall settings and make sure it allows connections from the outside.

like mobile data, phone data, LTE?, 3G, 4G, all of that.

what exactly do I check? it can connect, but not from Wi-Fi. I connected from 20km away but I could only do it when I turned off Wi-Fi on my phone.

Okay, chceck the OpenVPN log on the server when you're tryin to connect via WiFi. If there's nothing, we have a network/firewall problem. If there's something, we've got a server configuration problem.

Quick tip, use tail -f on logfile to see it update in a real time.

Normally in syslog on debian-like systems, but in OpenVPN configuration file you can specify聽

log-append /var/log/openvpn.log

for example to see separate logs only from OpenVPN, not the whole system.

thx

I'm hopeless I know...:)

NOTE: your local LAN uses the extremely common subnet address 192.168.0.x or 192.168.1.x.聽 Be aware that this might create routing conflicts if you connect to the VPN server from public locations such as internet cafes that use the same subnet

il give the full thing no sense making it harder on you by crossing out ip's and ports and all that

subnet is ipv4 address right?

could it be a routing error?

Follow this guide on creating an OpenVPN server and try to change the part on your Pi server where it assigns your device an ip from 192.168.x.x to the 10.8.6.0 IP
