samsung S9, snapfragon or exynos?

wasab

Hi,

my current phone is iPhone x and I wish to replace it with an android (because i hate ios, it simply can't do many things that android can)

I am thinking about getting the s9 but i heard the s9 USA version is far inferior than the international one. Is it true? i do not wish to pay the same price for an inferior phone. should i wait to purchase an imported international version s9 from eBay or wait for the one plus 6 with the snapdragon 845 for better value?

I'd wait for the ZTE Axon 9. It will likely have better value than the OnePlus will, as it did the last time it was released. The Asus Zenfone might even be better value than the OnePlus depending on what they do pricing wise.

As for the S9 question, I haven't seen any decent comparative reviews of them to make that assumption. If you have, I'd be interested to see them.

S9 with Snapdragon chips and Exynos chips are all based on ARM designs, so those of the same price range dont vary in performance by much. What makes US version inferior is the locks the service provider (Verizon, AT&T etc) put on there.

I see performance benchmark like these so i am worry that snapdragon will be inferior.

The 2 scores listed isnt even from the same phone. It's S9 vs S9+

Just out of curiosity

what do you guys do on your phones that makes you care about this

Web browsing. I want my browser to load faster and be much more responsive. I also need to stream HD video very quickly

Just get an unlocked version. Snapdragon vs Exynos won't make any difference for web browsing and stream watching. Those are things even cheap entry level phones can do without an issue. If you are into rooting or modding, I suggest going with the Snapdragon SoC.

Problem is on lower end phone cpu, phone browser often freezes a second or two, espiacally on ad heavy sites where so many JavaScript are running and cpu goes well over 80% usuage on even desktop processor.

Thats only if there is a lot of media elements on the page you are viewing, have a lot of tabs open or apps running in the background.

You have a problem there, but desktop is out of the context of this discussion.

Whichever version of S9 you choose, browsing will be a non-issue unless something gone terribly wrong somewhere.

well, this is a site point out by a poster in 2015. Some sites are heavy. I want the best load time and performance while scrolling. Are you sure snapdragon won’t have performance hit while browsing compare to exynos?

At this point it is as good as nitpicking. Nothing I can do to help here. Good luck with your new phone. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Ok, I will wait for the exynos then. I need faster speed on porn sites :D

Are you sure?

I highly doubt that your wifi is 50 times faster than South Koreas Ethernet

No really. The wired connection is one gigabits per second. My university is its own ISP and they have the top notch high tech fiber optic cables to deliver that kind of speed.

ah... that should be megabits.
