HD7850 vs GTX660

They are perform almost exactly the same actually. Usually exactly even. 660 wins some, 7850 wins some. Neither is ever by a lot.

get the 7850 its basically the same as the 660 and then u can stay in the amd ecosystem and hope u get some performance increase from mantle.

 

unless u want shadow play, game stream, lower power and do things that need Cuda of course.

the 7870 is faster than the 7850 by default so I get the "much faster" part, it just depends on the person on what they perceive as "much faster"

The 270 is hardly cheaper though...

R9-270 is an HD 7870 with 200MHz faster memory (800MHz Effective).  Better power delivery, less power consumption and a tweaked core.  They cost about 180 which is what the 660 costs.

7850 Overclocks like hell. mine is clocked 270 MHz higher than the reference card (1130 MHz). that's a damn good overclock if you ask me. performs better than a 660

Get the 7850 only if it's 2GB, if not 660 all the way, it's a bit more powerful, matching the 7870.
