As I was looking for affordable RAM for the system, weird thought came up.

Which is actually faster?

Single Stick 16GB

Dual Channel 2x8GB sticks

Quad Channel 4x4GB sticks

I was aiming to go Dual Channel 2x16GB but if quad channel is the better config, then I could opt for that build

Go with the Quad channel if you have a  HEDT platform, IE: X99, X299, X399

Go with Dual channel if you have a mainstream platform: IE: Z370, Z270 etc.. X370, B350 etc..

The channels are determined by the CPU and what it supports.
