Let me just predict the future real fast for ya.

 

Edit actually Samsung CHG90

Main PC = I5 7600K @4.5ghz, Asus Gtx1070, 16GB DDR4 3000Mhz, 480GB SSD, Msi Z270 Mobo.

i just did a google search for 4k 144hz and that popped up didn't notice the 1080.

To be fair, people upgrade monitors much less often than GPUs. If I buy a nice monitor I want it to last 5-10yrs before replacement/upgrade. The idea is to buy a monitor that will work for the next 3-4 systems. So even if OP can only push 60fps with a modern build, at least this way you don't have to buy a new monitor in a couple years when you can get higher framerates.

Having issues with a Corsair AIO? Possible fix here:

Are you getting weird fan behavior, speed fluctuations, and/or other issues with Link?

Are you running AIDA64, HWinfo, CAM, or HWmonitor? (ASUS suite & other monitoring software often have the same issue.)

Corsair Link has problems with some monitoring software so you may have to change some settings to get them to work smoothly.

-For AIDA64: First make sure you have the newest update installed, then, go to Preferences>Stability and make sure the "Corsair Link sensor support" box is checked and make sure the "Asetek LC sensor support" box is UNchecked.

-For HWinfo: manually disable all monitoring of the AIO sensors/components.

-For others: Disable any monitoring of Corsair AIO sensors.

That should fix the fan issue for some Corsair AIOs (H80i GT/v2, H110i GTX/H115i, H100i GTX and others made by Asetek). The problem is bad coding in Link that fights for AIO control with other programs. You can test if this worked by setting the fan speed in Link to 100%, if it doesn't fluctuate you are set and can change the curve to whatever. If that doesn't work or you're still having other issues then you probably still have a monitoring software interfering with the AIO/Link communications, find what it is and disable it.

Two water cooled 1080Tis could probably push that consistently. At least 120fps. With more thermal headroom to push both up to 2.1Ghz. I bet you could make use of that ~$1300 monster Asus display.

one with up to 120hz is already available the zisworks x28.

also supports 1080p 240hz.

 

mine will be shipped probably next week, really looking forward to get that beast going.

A single 980 Ti drives 100+ FPS at 4k in the sort of games people actually play (Fortnite, not PUBG cause ain't no GPU runs 1440p 144hz on Pubg, WoW, League, etc)

theres no point in a <30" 4k monitor
