Hello Everyone!

I am looking to build my very first pc and could use some advice as to what I should do. I've done a ton of research but I still feel like a lot of it is going over my head, so I am trying to get some different opinions.

1. Starting off, I plan on useing this pc for gaming as well as to expand my youtube channel with digital art/animation. My budget is around $1500 US dollars though I can afford slightly more if absolutely necessary.

2. I do not have any peripherals yet, though I have a separate budget for them. For this thread I am mostly concerned with the computer itself. I have a friend with a spare 500w power supply who would be willing to give it to me if I end up needing it, but other then that, this build is completely from the desk up ?

3. Also, I do not need this computer right away. If I can wait this long just to afford one, then I'm sure I can bring myself to wait a little bit longer to ensure better quality. Though I'll admit I'm really excited to get it up and running!

4. I'm gonna list the parts I have in mind so far but it's all open to change. Also important to note, I did run them through part picker but I know sometimes its not 100% accurate.

Okay so here goes!

- Intel - Core i7-7700K 4.2GHz Quad-Core Processor

-Noctua - NH-D15 82.5 CFM CPU Cooler

-MSI - Z270 GAMING PRO CARBON ATX LGA1151 Motherboard

-G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 16GB (1 x 16GB) DDR4-3200 Memory

-Samsung - 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

-Western Digital - Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

-MSI - GeForce GTX 1060 6GB 6GB GT OCV1 Video Card

-Phanteks - Enthoo Pro ATX Full

-EVGA - SuperNOVA G3 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

-Microsoft - Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit

There's everything I've found so far. Please let me know what you think and thank you for your time! ?

Yeah, don't get the 7700K. The 8600K beats it, even in gaming.

There's so many things I would like the change here. Could you give me the link???

You're going to need a CD drive for the Windows 10, Get another stick of Ram for better Stability, You Can get a Ryzen 7 with 2 extra cores and a Liquid Cooler for it and still come in on your budget. Unless you plan to game in 2K or higher there's no reason to have a 1060 you can get away with a 900 series or even a AMD card. Also you don't need a i7 for gaming a i5 will do just fine all your doing is paying for a higher base clock

Yeah I was wrong looking at benchmarks Intel beats AMD unless your going with the Skylake series. As for the 15-8600K beating the i7-7700K that information is false looking at benchmarks the 7700K performs slightly better in cpu related tasks. As for your card I believe a RX 500 series would suit your needs unless you plan to game in 2 or 4K then go with a GTX card. I'd recommend staying with Intel if you want to do intel but upgrade to a Coffee Lake, if you want to save money you can get the Ryzen 7 1800x its only $5 more then the i7-8700K  and has two extra cores. I'll make a parts list and link it

the RX 500 series ranges from the 550 to the 580, entry-level to mid-range GPUs. same thing with just saying "GTX series", except now it means everything from a GTX 260 to a 1080ti. the i5 8600k is better than the 7700k since it has 2 more cores compared to just 4 with HT.

he can just download the ISO files from microsoft, burn them on a usb drive and install it from there. and the i7 has HT which the i5 doesn't to help it outperform. if you don't know what you're talking about then don't come and mislead others.

So I'm not sure if your case included a Tempered Glass side panel but I sourced one for you just in case. Having extra wattage in your power supply is better then having just enough so you can upgrade in the future so stick with a 650 watt. As for the board most Intel boards only come with two USB 2.0 headers same with AMD so if you'll need access to more then two headers you'll have to buy a hub  https://pcpartpicker.com/list/YLZnQZ

I wasn't sure what kind of animation software you were using so I just went with a 1700, you may be able to drop it down to a 1600 to save some money though. The filter picked out a 4GB 580 as the GPU which I decided to just leave. The 8GB is considerably more expensive but the 6GB 1060s are not that much more expensive if you want one of them instead. I just used a parametric filter since the market is all over the place right now.

Thanks for the list. I'll probably be using Adobe Flash to animate, (it's only 2d animation) if that helps at all.☺

In that case I would try something like this:

It is listing a Pentium 4 as the minimum processor so I don't think you need all 8 cores, might as well save a bit of money.

USB will work.

8700K gaming performance is much better than 8600K.

AMD cards can be as fast as competing NVIDIA options.

Ryzen 7 is slower for gaming, and just as fast for multithread applications.
