Hey there,  I am in need of a new device to connect wirelessly to my main router/modem for my new internet. This is due to my PC being in a separate room to my router and the fact that my PC has no wifi built in (I have no pcie slot for a wifi card) In my limited research I have come to the conclusion that I need a wireless access point to plug in via Ethernet to my PC. My question is: A.) Is this the best choice for my situation?  B.) If anyone can provide any recommendations on access points around $60 or lower and able to sit on a desk,  I would appreciate it.   Thanks for all your help.

A wireless Access points job is to add WiFi to your network, in cases where you live in a large building you might have multiple AP's to help with coverage, APs are connected to your router, while they might work for what you asking for, its hard to say, as it depends on the Firmware.

You need a wireless router or AP that allows wireless bridging. I dont know of any off the top of my head. Any that support DDWRT firmware would work, but you would have to do the research on that front. Would also like to mention there is a thing called a wireless bridge, also, I have seen some wireless range extenders with this capability. Again I dont have model numbers. You might be better off looking at Power line adapters or Moca adapters, as they tend to provide a much more stable connection compared to WiFi.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
