Anti-malware Service Executable

Go to solution Solved by NMS,

This could be due to mining ads that have been popping up all over the place. For future, run an ad-blocker.

Or, your anti-virus was running a scan/update.

Hello,

I am kinda worried about my pc. Last night I was watching youtube when my pc just cut off out of no where. Then it turned it self back on 5 seconds later. Then off and on for 10 second. It freaked me out. I could not get it to work till I unplugged it and flipped the switch on and off on the back of the power supply. It was due to a loose connection with the power cable. Once I fixed that, everything worked. It started. It was running smooth no slow downs or anything. Then later that night I hopped onto some rainbow six siege with my friends and started to get 40-60 fps. That worried me a lot. I went through everything trying to figure out why I was running so poorly. I checked the temps and my GPU and CPU were both running at 70-75 degrees Celsius. I immediately turned off my PC and let it cool down til the morning. Now this morning when I logged on everything was fine. I was getting 80-110 fps in siege for about 5 mins until the stutters started to happen. I checked control panel and the Anti-malware Service Executable was taking 60% of my CPU. I have never had it take that much. I closed siege to see what would happen. Anti-malware Service Executable would be taking up %5 of my cpu for a second and then 50-60% for 30 seconds. It was so bad that my mouse was stuttering around with plenty of input lag. I am worried. Is my CPU dying? I cannot afford to buy a new CPU at the moment and the new siege update is coming out today. It is the only virus protector I have so I dont want to disable it. Was there an update that made it worse recently? Anything I can do to fix it? Are they even related? My cpu is FX-8350 and my GPU is GTX 1060.

From,

Dylan

I run an adblock most of the time. It does seem to be getting better but it still is not the greatest and still is slowing down my pc quite a bit.

I just fixed it. I believe it was doing a scan or something. I had restarted my pc again and after that the antimalware service executable went back to normal and now my pc is running perfect. Working with games and all too.
