RAMPAGE V EXTREME + 2x 980 Ti's (Reference)

Go to solution Solved by airdeano,

due to the lane assignments, you'll have to run 2-way first card in top red x16 slot and second card in the last x16 (below the black x16).

40-lane - x16/x16

28-lane - x16/x8

5ab7b94b02241_rvePCIeassignment.thumb.png.3b205f0a07146d8b25bb0619c0356ef3.png

if GPU is installed in 2nd x16 slot, the GPU will not be recognized for SLI.

Hi everyone!

I'm a bit confused with these SLI Option's that the Rampage V Extreme haves and what SLI Bridge should I get for it because I want an "older" SLI combo with two ASUS 980 Ti's (Reference ones)

I know it's out dated and stuff, but i'd wish to stack'em like this image here:

My question is, is this possible? Or I have to use space like the next image?

If anyone rocking this setup could make a photo about it or smth, It would be cool.

Cheers,

DarkK1d

You just need a longer SLI bridge. The one shown in Nvidia's picture is a 2-slot long bridge while the picture from someone else in a 4-slot long bridge.

Well if you want to run them like in the first pic, which wouldn’t be smart given better options you would need the bridge you first posted.

Each vendor has a different naming scheme for spacing so find a design you like then go from there.

Second pic spacing would  be better

Main RIg Corsair Air 540, I7 9900k, ASUS ROG Maximus XI Hero, G.Skill Ripjaws 3600 32GB, 3090FE, EVGA 1000G5, Acer Nitro XZ3 2560 x 1440@240hz

Spare RIg Lian Li O11 AIR MINI, I7 4790K, Asus Maximus VI Extreme, G.Skill Ares 2400 32Gb, EVGA 1080ti, 1080sc 1070sc & 1060 SSC, EVGA 850GA, Acer KG251Q 1920x1080@240hz

Asus rampage v extreme SLI

x1 & x3 pcie slot for max bandwidth if you have enough cpu lanes.
