Ultrawide Monitor

Alfred14

Looking to get rid of my current three 24 inch monitor setup and thinking of going for an ultrawide, looking at 34 inch with 3440x1440 and atleast 120hz refresh rate.

What options are around? Looking at going down the korean monitor route via ebay.

Budget is around $1000

If you're going to spend $1000 you might as well get the Alienware 34" IPS GSync monitor at 120Hz or the Acer or Asus 34" GSync monitors at 100Hz. Personally I have a PG348Q and love it although I might upgrade to one of the 200Hz Ultrawides when they finally hit the market.

The Potato Box:

AMD 5950X

EVGA K|NGP|N 3090

128GB 3600 CL16 RAM

The Scrapyard Warrior:

AMD 3950x

EVGA FTW3 2080Ti

64GB 3200 CL16 RAM

I would get the alienware, otherwise, to save a shitload of money the massdrop vast is a good option but doesn't have G-sync

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

If you get the Alienware and OC it to 120hz, I don't think you will feel it much. If at all.

If interested, it's the AW3418DW model - need to pay attention since they also released AW3418HW which is ultrawide 2560x1080 but for some reason in many places wrongly listed as 3440x1440.

Now, as for the upcoming monitors, bear in mind that stuff like Asus PG35VQ or Acer Predator X35 (200hz, HDR, G-Sync) might reach even twice your budget - I wouldn't be surprised if they went for at least $1700 each.
