EVGA GTX 780 Power issues.

I've recently upgrade from a z77/3570k system to a 1600x/b350 system.

 

I've put my old system to good use in a new case and threw in a GTX 780, the system runs fine but the GPU never goes beyond 50% power usage, surprisingly still performs decent at that but i'm very limited to the OC i can dial in, anything more than 65mhz on the clock and 145mhz on the memory and it crashes.

 

I've checked nvidia settings for max performance, all good there.

I installed and older driver just to check if that was the issue

I can't find any program running that may be limiting it.

 

HW Monitor and Afterburner report limited power usage, i've attached a capture showing HWM/Afterburner after 2 passes on Unigene Heaven.

 

Any ideas folks?

Corsair TX 650.  Should be fine i think.

Yes It should be.

 

Can you send a screenshot of msi afterburner overclocking settings.

Do you have a power or temp limits.

The screenshot above was at stock settings with the power limit maxed, temp limit is 95c.

Hasn't helped   did get to 59% this time though.

 

Would this card work in this manner if only one of the two  8 pin power connectors were working?

Ok it gets weirder now.

 

Thought i'd download Precision X, thought maybe it being an EVGA card i might be able to do something.

I was wrong, Precision X tells me no EVGA card detected..hmmm  Opened up Speccy checked GPU and it tells me the sub-vendor is PNY.

 

So i took note of all the numbers on the pcb/barcodes etc,  it checks out as an EVGA card.  wtf!

 

Could this be a bios thing?  I bought the card used and i'm pretty sure it came out a Mac  would this be an issue?

Which card is it exactly? Could use an older version of precisionx which won’t need to verify. 

 

Seem like a bios issie assuming the labels are correct and original.

It's an EVGA GTX 780 Classified ACX

 

Yeah, i'm beginning to think it's a bios thing. Do these cards get flashed for use in a Mac?

[SOLVED]

 

Returned the card for a full refund, found out the bios date from the card and was updated 3 days before i received it so Bios was to blame.
