Can't download anything

I can't download anything. When I do try, the downloading speed always decreases to 0b/s and stays that way.

And I doubt it has anything to do with my laptop. I just got this today and it's a dell inspiron 13 500 series.

Can you please help me?

This sounds like a similar issue I had on my laptop. My steam downloads would never work. Turns out it was a setting in my antivirus. Could this be your problem?

Check the device manager and check to see the internal NIC is enabled.  If it isn't, then right click on it and click enable.  If it is already enabled, make sure the drivers are up to date.

Oops, sorry had moment there.  As mentioned above, check your antivirus.  Obviously the NIC is enabled or you would not be able to access the internet.  Another DUH me moment.  Sorry.

check your dns settings. had a malware that changed my dns and every file i downloaded would download a 1.4mb virus zip file. took me weeks to figure it out until i discovered my dns was set to some static ip from who the hell knows where
