Cpu + Mobo for 350-400€/$

Hey!

I gave my old PC component (incl. mobo + cpu + ram) to my 10-year-old nephew. That means I have built him a PC for his favorite game Minecraft.

My Pc Specs:

Fractal Design Meshify C

Asus Strix Gtx 1080

bequiet Dark rock 3

1 tb hdd

250gb ssd (i am thinking of buying in the future m.2. ssd)

corsair rm650i

got 2x 8gb ddr4-3000 g-skill tridentZ as bday gift

So which Mobo + Cpu would you recommend for

gaming

productivity

multimedia stuff

maybe streaming games on twitch

Exactly what i was about to recommend. I'd probably go for an Asus motherboard if it were my build, but that's just because i've had some dumb issues with MSI motherboards in the past.

Ryzen or Coffee Lake?

If your PC's focus is gaming than get coffee lake, because it will get higher framerates in most games. But if your workload is more mixed than the 8 cores and 16 threads will overall outperform the coffee lake i5 with just 6 cores and 6 threads. And IMO the 1700x is a better buy, because it basically costs the same these days (280 vs 296 $) and you already have a cooler that's good enough and the 1700x can be usually overclocked a bit a higher the 1700.

Yeah, didn't say it was bad or low quality or anything, i just pointed out, that if it were my build, i'd go for an asus one due to the issues that i've had with msi one's. :P
