Update the bios if anything.

That's because the board isn't rated for such a high TDP, it probably won't last too long especially if you're overclocking.

^ This. I have no idea WHY these damn retailers sell combos of the 8350 with non 990fx boards and lower power phases. Now there ARE some non 990fx boards that are ok for stock. It all has to do with power phases on AMD. I would not OC it at all. Your board has 4+1 power phases. People usually like 6+2 with that chip to run at stock.

Will it last a long time? Who knows. At stock maybe. If you can take it back I would. If you can't? Just don't oc it. Not really your fault. These retailers are idiots and Tek Syndicate's Logan fails to mention that he is using a 170 dollar 990fx Asus board to OC his 8350.

As JJ(From ASUS) says it does not matter how many power phases they are, just how much the "phases" can handle. I OC'd a Phenom II X4 960t from 3Ghz, to 4Ghz on air cooling(it was 40 Celcius) and on a OEM board. I ran the OC for a few months until the board gave in, and wouldn't let me OC anymore. This board, AKA a non OEM board can handle it a bit better. But it won't be night and day.

:(. Most friends I have with the 8320/8350 have upgraded to an Asus 990fx or a Gigabye 990fx. They have had good experiences with them. It kind of kills the savings people expect with AMD though. Those boards usually aren't cheap.

They have a rebate on the Asus right now. Not bad at 129 bucks. Don't think I would go cheaper then that if I was running a 8350 though.

There is an OEM part (not available to us consumers) named FX-8300.

It has a lower TDP rating and it clocked lower than both the FX-8350 and FX-8320.

OP, since you have the CPU now, try running the chip at stock and see how it works. Be sure to keep a close eye on the temperatures (VRM's, Chipsets, etc)..

Once you see any abnormal signs, prepare to take action.
