Flashing custom ROM on Fire HD 8 tablet

Hi, 

 

I am considering buying the latest Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet (7th gen, 2017).

Unfortunately, this Amazon tablet comes with a stupid OS from Amazon. I figured that I would flash a custom ROM on the device. But I haven't found any custom ROMs for this specific device. 

 

Has anybody flashed a custom ROM on this tablet? Has it been done?

 I flashed real Android on to the 10" version, not the 8", but the process should be same. Google "Root Junky Kindle Fire" it should come up with thr tool I use.

I am also interested in this. Does it work okay any problems with the 10" version? was it the newest version of android?

It works fine other than being slow as shit. IIRC it was 6.0

Would you consider buying a more expensive tablet if it comes with Android out of the box? 

 

I am divided between the $100 Amazon tablet and a $200 Acer tablet with slightly better specs, Android 7.0 and a 10" screen.
