Need help with windows

Jason Arencibia

So, my kids are using my old PC, https://valid.x86.fr/show_oc.php?id=2759480
Here it is today: https://valid.x86.fr/esks8y
I've been fighting Windows 10 for 2~3 months, I can't tell anymore. I liked your video debunking the nvidia sandbagging older cards. I'm trying to see if M$ is doing it to older computers.

I've tried asking M$ and got a bullshit reply having nothing in this or any drug induced reality to do with the issue!

I put my old Gigabyte AMD Radeon R7 240 GV-R724OC-2GI REV2.0 in, seeing if that is new enough, I don't think it's the video cards, is microshit.

I think it's one of the 2 updates shown here.

I'm just at a loss, I can't stop winblows from installing updates anymore. there is nothing wrong with that computer, I built it in 2008, and it's still going strong! and it's been running windows 10 for well over a year and a half just fine!

My only guess is to do a clean wipe, and see if it can install updates before anything else. the computer I'm on now has been running just fine since I built it, unpadets and all... built weeks before Ryzen was announced <.< yay me... hell I'm been kicking ass on this FX8350 w/16gb ram... https://valid.x86.fr/qy579p I guess M$ will try to kill this sometime soon too!

Any suggestions to keep my kids pc running? I wish upgrading was an option! and AMD! I've been stuck on AMD since the Am5x86-P75, I started building in 1996, and AMD keep that 486 going for a bit longer!!! lol

I don’t think you let updates run for long enough. I have an Athlon 64 x2 based system (sat in the garage since about 2011ish) and it took about two days to finish updates (windows 7) and I have 100 mbps download speeds and it was hooked straight into Ethernet. Are you having any other problems with windows? Sorry, I couldn’t quite tell from your post. Oh, btw windows 7 would likely run better then 10 on that computer as an athlon 64 is at the absolute low end of the system requirements for windows 10, and windows 10 does not often play nice with hard drives. You can get a cheap windows 7 key on kinguin if need be.

I'm not sure it's it's still installing updates, it stops on the black screen with the windows logo, nothing else, no spinning dots, no "updating do not turn off", yeah, I have 150mbps cox cable. I'm having issues with that, but I think the modem is dying again, we consume close to our 500gb a month, something is always pulling data, 3 computers, 2 tv's, 2 google chromes, 3 cell phones, 2 tablets lol

But even that old PC pulls the updates super fast! I just did a rollback to get back in and had to rush to try and suspend updates it downloads so fast! but it had been sitting on that logo screen since last night.

It installed some of the updates, and windows loaded... I need to see what is left and if just maybe that video card helped!

That is how I got the Windows 10 keys, I forgot a laptop in all that, my laptop is the only device that got Windows 10 free <.< lol, but it came with Win8 so the key is in the bios.

I might have to roll it back to Win7! it's installing the malware update, then after that it's the cumulative update. :(

Try setting the network connection to metered, it usually stops downloading updates for me. I have no idea how long that will prevent updates because I only do that for PC's I only use for a few hours.

3700x, Asus B450i, 16GB Corsair Vengeance RGB, Gigabyte GTX 970 ITXDan A4-SFX, SX600-G, 120mm AIO.

I would try to get windows 7 going for sure. It will be a much better fit for that system. Windows 10 does not like hard drives and is always craving more ram and CPU power.
