Radiator clearance in Fractal Design Define R6

Hello

 

I've done some research on the Fractal Design Define R6, and so far, I've found no definitive answer as to the maximum thickness for a radiator I can fit into either the top or the front. Maximum motherboard component height tells me nothing (unless I have something like an MSI X399 SLI PLUS or the X399 GAMING PRO CARBON AC, which have really tall heatsinks), as my motherboard's VRM heatsink height is within spec.

 

I ask this because I am considering upgrading my mediocre CM MasterLiquid Pro 240 to an EK-KIT P360 watercooling kit.

 

To make it easier for you guys, the radiator's thickness is 38mm. Add 25mm (which is the most common fan thickness), and I'm up to 63mm total.

Here you go, the front has a massive cut out so it shouldn't have any issues unless your going with extremely thick rads.

I know you can fit up to 360/420 at the top depending on layout, and up to 280/360 at the front.

 

What I'm trying to get at is, can I fit something as thick as 63mm in total for radiator+fans preferably at the top?

That depends on your clearances for RAM and motherboard heatsinks but it should not have any issues at all due to the extremely large offset from the mounting points for a 360mm rad. For 140mm rads up to you can only have up to 36mm thick rads.

Okay. If it helps, I currently have an Asus ROG RAMPAGE V EDITION 10 and a 4x8GB kit of Corsair Dominator Platinum SE Blackout.

 

If I'm clear, then I can get the case, since I plan on downsizing my system, and the case I want to get is more practical for the space my computer setup is in. The case I have is a beast, and it's kind of difficult to maneuver and swap components around

Your best option is to mock up the components to check for clearance before going any further. This will give you an idea of how much room you'll have.

Okay @Candren Lycosa refreshed my memory, and you can mount hard drives onto the panel that you can move to the back of the case, and you have unlimited clearance at the front panel.

Yeah once you move the drive mounts, there shouldn't be any issues in the front even with monstrous 60mm rads in push pull if so desired.
