What should I choose?

PaPanes

There are 2 deals on Newegg currently that I'm considering. The first deal is a i5 7600k and a Asus Maximus Viii hero for $250. The second one I found was a i5 8600k and a Gigabyte Aorus Gaming 7 motherboard for $350. Note that I do have a tight budget but am willing to pay a bit more. Just wondering if it's worth the $100 increase.

If you're willing to spend the extra money you might as well. The two extra cores will probably come in handy seeing as games are progressing towards using more than 4 cores. And of course, the extra power will come in handy if you multitask or plan on doing any photo/video work.

8600k all the way, better chip, worthy to say it's equal to the 7700k, it's a newer (going to be but not quite yet) not dead platform and I'd say the i5 7600k is of equal shittiness to the i3 7350k.

Try using the PSU Tier List!

Well the 8600k is actually better than an i7 7700k in quite literally everything, and the i5 7600k is dying as it is with 4 cores and no HT. I'd get the 8600k and not worry about it for 5 years

CPU: INTEL Core i7 4790k @ 4.7Ghz - Cooling: NZXT Kraken X61 - Mobo: Gigabyte Z97X SLI - RAM: 16GB G.Skill Ares 2400mhz - GPU: AMD Sapphire Nitro R9 Fury 4G - Case: Phanteks P350X - PSU: EVGA 750GQ - Storage: WD Black 1TB - Fans: 2x Noctua NF-P14s (Push) / 2x Corsair AF140 (Pull) / 3x Corsair AF120 (Exhaust) - Keyboard: Corsair K70 Cherry MX Red - Mouse: Razer Deathadder Chroma

Bit of an AMD fan I suppose. I don't bias my replies to anything however, I just prefer AMD and their products. Buy whatever the H*CK you want.
