Hello,

I'm planning to upgrade my i5-4430 processor to newer more powerful one.

I have been reading a lot of forums ans watching videos, but however I can't decide which one to buy.

My options:

Ryzen 3 1300x,

Ryzen 5 1600,

Intel i3-8100 (or the better one i3)

Intel i5-8400

I know that with i3 or i5 the motherboards price is higher with DDDR4 compared to Ryzen.

Mostly of the time I would play games. But there will be doing some coding, web development.

I'm on bugdet - ~400 - 500 (includes CPU, PSU, Mobo, RAM).

And which RAM should be choosen?

My country: Lithuania.

Ryzen 5 1600 costs around 180€.

I'd just find a used i7 4770 or 4790 on Ebay.

The only real upgrade is the Ryzen 5 1600, but IMO you should consider getting a used 4770(K)/4790(K) instead because you can keep your current Motherboard/RAM.

CPU: Intel Core i7-5820K | Motherboard: AsRock X99 Extreme4 | Graphics Card: Gigabyte GTX 1080 G1 Gaming | RAM: 16GB G.Skill Ripjaws4 2133MHz | Storage: 1 x Samsung 860 EVO 1TB | 1 x WD Green 2TB | 1 x WD Blue 500GB | PSU: Corsair RM750x | Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro (White) | Cooling: Arctic Freezer i32

Mice: Logitech G Pro X Superlight (main), Logitech G Pro Wireless, Razer Viper Ultimate, Zowie S1 Divina Blue, Zowie FK1-B Divina Blue, Logitech G Pro (3366 sensor), Glorious Model O, Razer Viper Mini, Logitech G305, Logitech G502, Logitech G402

What graphics card do you have right now? Maybe a r5 2400g would fit you good because of its good igpu.

The 4 core 4 thread chips won't be much better, the R5 1600 is the likely suggestion

But if you're only gaming at say 1080p 60hz your CPU should be fine, what are you having issues with?

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Whats wrong with your i5 right now?

Basically I want to upgrade RAM to higher speed. But in order to do that I have to upgrade the mobo. And I dont think that is a good idea to buy old one.

Why do you need to upgrade your RAM to a higher speed? That doesn't help with like 99% of things

I've been using 1600 and 1050ti and happy with the result.

Not a hardcore gamer, 60 fps is enough for gaming once a while.

but if you wanna go cheaper, a 1400 is a good upgrade.

4 core 8 thread will double the thread count from your current cpu.

But have no performance difference that makes it worth upgrading.

If you’re going to upgrade, minimum 1600 for the extra cores. But please, only upgrade if you’re doing some form of professional workload for a living, for gaming it makes no sense

That's an F in the profile pic

For me a "sidegrade" to newer platform would be enough to justify the cost.

Haswell is 5 years old, i wont worry about the cpu life, but most motherboard starts failing past this time.

as op stated, he's making money with the pc, a fresh update would be nice.
