The first thing I do with a new system is install drivers. You'd want to get drivers for your GPU and motherboard, mainly.

 

Next, I usually run a benchmark or two to make sure my PC is running as well as it should. Unigine Superposition and Heaven are good ones. Aida64 is good for testing various other areas of your system. I like to use MSI Afterburner to monitor my GPU temperatures and frequency(also helps you overclock).

 

For the CPU, most people use CPU-Z(unless I'm mistaken) to monitor that.

install some drivers, get SpeedFan installed to control the fans, and install steam ofcourse!
