Quick story

My friend told me about MD5

I wrote a bit using a tool

My friend 'needs' his textbook as he wants to complete an essay

I wrote a long summary (800 words) about the task. I wrote It all to MD5 as a prank, but he actually needs it

I am not sure he understands MD5

Next day, I told him it was in MD5 and told him to decrypt it all when he gets home

Didnt take my textbook...

So, at night. Here I am, Desperate

It's "near impossible" because mathematically, statistically, it could theoretically be guessed, but it would be like winning the lottery times a billion.  Besides, your computer would have to generate a string, hash it, and then compare it to your hash, and keep doing that until it gets the right string, so basically you'd have to regenerate the text you want, and that would be like cracking a password with length of whatever paragraphs you said you hashed, so in other words, it will take no less than billions of times the age of the universe even on a super computer.

Ok I found the way un-encrypt BUT thing is you have to have the MySQL data access to perform the decrypt.

It has to have the original input in order to compare and decrypt.. I did some quick research...

 

Here is a site that does encrypt and decrypt for you but as in the site it will only decrypt what it has on file. So pretty much if youused this sites MySQL to encrypt it will decrypt it for otherwise your sol.

It's possible, but so impractical it's impossible.

 

To put in perspective, a GTX 1080 has an MD5 hashrate of 24809.6 MHS (https://gist.github.com/epixoip/6ee29d5d626bd8dfe671a2d8f188b77b). MD5 has 2^128 outcomes. At this hashrate, it would take over basically the lifetime of the universe to find an input for every hash value. And the chances of finding a collision out of pure random chance is 1/2^128.
