Streaming/recording software set up?

Hi guys, quick question:

I wanted to stream and record, but I just want to know what programs could be used and doesn't impact too hard on games.

My set up:

Corsair air 540

I7-4770k

Gtx 780

MSI z87-g45

Corsair hydro 100i

Seagate 1tb

WD 500gb

Dxtory for hdd recording. obs or xsplit for streaming.

OBS for streaming as you can use H.264 for encoding, and is more user friendly. Fraps if you want to record miecraft and java based games. DxTory for the rest. Wait for shadowplay to get better before going to that.

Also DO NOT record to the same HDD that the OS or games are on, you'll see huge performance hits that way.

Basically, use Dxtory for everything, have it output to OBS to stream.

Bitrate is important!

For streaming your connection is important. I use OBS with settings where quality is balanced between game performance and image quality. And also how well its going to play on other end.

 

In OBS my settings are:

Recorded 1080p, scaled to 720p (normal users in Twitch.tv won't get scaling options for viewers)

Bitrate 2200, quality 8

FPS 30 (you can try 60 also)

Audio AAC 160bit

Filter Bilinear

 

I've had comments that it looks good compared to some others who stream at 720p. My limit atm is gpu (560Ti).
