Hey guys. I know this may seem like a stupid question...

Here it goes.

I bought a new RAID drive. I am currently connected via USB 3.0 to my PC.

It has a SATA 3 connector on the back.

Wondering if I would get faster performance hooking directly into my motherboard's SATA3 with it rather than USB 3.0?

Thanks fellahs!!

He means an external RAID array, like the ones you see Thunderbolt as being advertised for higher speeds with.

That's kind of what I was thinking.

Hey guys. Dumb Dumb Dumb.

I see that the cable connection available is an ESata. Not Sata3.

Or is that even dumber that I said that?

esata is the exact same as sata, just a different connector.

What speeds do you currently get, with hdds it will probably be about the same.

A regular SATA cable will fit into an ESATA cable port, though an actual ESATA cable is a little different.

Your motherboard might have came with an ESATA PCI bracket. Lots used to. You plug a SATA cable into the bracket and then the other end into a SATA port on your motherboard.

On the external side of the bracket you can use another SATA cable to connect your dock.

Alternatively you can just feed a SATA cable right inside your case and connect directly.
