Hi,

so I have a class that I am taking where I need to use Autodesk REVIT, however I can't use it as I'm using linux for another course and Revit doesn't run under Wine. I'm currently attemping to run Windows 10 in a VM but the setup hangs when I start it up, is there a proper way to create a VirtualBox instance for Windows 10?

My procrastination is the bane of my existence.

I make games and stuff in my spare time.

Do you have the latest version of virtualbox? When creating the VM it should give you the options to choose what OS you want to install. Choose windows 10 x64 then follow the setup per usual. (2 cores, maybe 2GB of RAM, fixed or dynamic hard drive. I prefer fixed size.) outside of that with everything else on default settings it should work when installing the OS from a .ISO

If you need to use something like Revit, I wouldn't use a VM. I'd make a partition on my drive and install Windows locally. What are the specs of your machine?

Main System: Phobos

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C/16T), ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 16GB G.SKILL Aegis DDR4 3000MHz, AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB (XFX), 960GB Crucial M500, 2TB Seagate BarraCuda, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations/macOS Catalina

Secondary System: York

Intel Core i7-2600 (4C/8T), ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3, 16GB GEIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 1600MHz, Zotac GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB, 240GB ADATA Ultimate SU650, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

Older File Server: Yet to be named

Intel Pentium 4 HT (1C/2T), Intel D865GBF, 3GB DDR 400MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB (HIS), 80GB WD Caviar, 320GB Hitachi Deskstar, Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows Server 2003 R2

It's a laptop, Running on an AMD A8-7410 Quad-core and I've upgraded it to 8GB of RAM.low end machine

I also seem to have issues with my main rig trying to run windows 10 VMs, though for that system I use the VM for cross-compatibility testing. the specs for that system are as follows

A8-7600 OC'd to 3.8Ghz through BIOS

12GB DDR3 1600

2GB GTX 1050
