Mixing 4k and 1080 hd monitors

marksmanguy

Hi, I currently have a 3 monitor setup in 1080. I would like to upgrade to 4k but that is a pretty expensive move to do all at once. Can i upgrade just one to 4k? It is mainly for work and do not game on the 3 monitors at once.

Have 2 x 1080ti and use windows 7.

Thanks a lot!

Yes I believe you can mix and match.

Ya it shouldn't really make a difference. I would just make the 4k one your primary monitor. You shouldn't have any performance issues either.

But will there issues with scaling? Or is that kind of stuff all sorted out?

You'll soon find out.

Windows will take care of the scaling automatically for you.

Probably gaming or helping technophobes with tech...

The only issue you could have is if you need to increase the fonts on windows, because it should changes it for all the screens, making the 1080p like a 720p.

Also keep in mind the big resolution difference in everyday use. I have a 1440p near a 1080p, but I'm using the 1080p only when I need bigger fonts, because when the two screens are near eachother the difference is really too noticeable. In your case it's even more.

Just keep this in mind.
