So I am using Asus UN64V which NUC, and it's i7-4600u @ 3.3Ghz and the most problem which I get in this cpu is OVERHEAT, so I have a question. What If you take out the motherboard and install it in a mITX case, get a extend GPU which connect to pci-e 1x 3Gen, and buy a new cooler for it which it supports BGA1168...

Or any other solution for it to let it be cooler?

it get 92 degree...

My specs:

CPU: i7-4600u @ 3.3Ghz (2 cores, 4 threads)

RAM: ddr3l 1600 4GB x 2

SSD: 256GB(made in korea!?)

Network: IEEE 802.1ac (???

Asus NUC: CPU:i7-4600u | ram: ddr3l 4GB x 2 | ssd: 256GB | Network: RJ45 port, wifi 802.1 ac | usb: USB Gen3 x 4 | SD: SD port x1 | Display: HDMI x1, DP x1| GPU: Intel Graphics 4400 @ 1100Mhz |

Want to know which mobo to get?

Spoiler

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.

What are you trying to do with it that makes it overheat? I mean yeah putting a better cooler on it in a different case might improve thermals, but defeats the entire point of purchasing the thing in the first place.

I know what I am asking is that does my question helpful for my NUC? else I could buy a new PC instead to do this all thing...

I have been reseached on this before, but everyone says: thermal compounds~~~

And I really doesn't want to do it even through I can.

Other thins, if my CPU is FULL LOAD which in prime95, it becomes 2.1Ghz auto, so..............

My English is not really good... cause I am Taiwanese ZZzzzzzzz

Please don't run Prime95 on a NUC :| it's not a real-world representative load and the cooling of a NUC can definitely not handle that kind of a load for long I'd assume, which is why you're seeing 92C... Test it with whatever you inted to do with it being gaming or other kinds of workload.

Like I said it doesn't make sense (to me at least) to transplant the NUC into another case, because a) it's a weird socket you can't do anything with and b) not the purpose of that machine, so I'd just buy a desktop if you want something for gaming or the likes.

So, assuming your goal is not to run Prime95 all day, what is it you want to do? Gaming, video editing, webbrowsing? Because the other screenshot with 65C is perfectly acceptable.

No I was just showing you that what happenes in 100 load...

Cause I really wanna get lower temp while 0% load, cause It still gets 40 ~ 60 degree...

What I always do is light gaming such like minecraft, warframe...

and I codes so of course visual studio, and also I install IIS for the website server for myself...

Sometimes video editing... but like 20mins 1920x1080 video nees 30mins...

So last question, If I buy MX4 thermal compound, would it help? else I am not gonna buy it...

Prime is not a representative 100% load, it really hammers your CPU pushing even more capable coolers.

A better thermal paste will not significantly affect your temperatures (maybe 1 or 2 degrees), so no need to buy that.

try the MX4 as you said, its cheap enough for a trial and error aproach. As far as i can remember Intel uses nice TIM on top their IHS. (Not the mayo they put inside). Maybe they ran out of TIM and squeezed some more mayo on top. who knows. Try it and tell us.

MX4 might drop a few degrees but do not expect a huge improvement

Why buy a NUC in the first place if you wanted to do video editing and gaming

Cause I thought 3,.3Ghz is fine for me just a little big of video editing in 1080p...

whatever, I am still wondering why if I open fortnite and it gets 1.1Ghz even through it's only 80 degree, and it runs fine inside...
