Is there a way i can clean the Cherry MX reds switches on my machenical keyboard. i mean the actual switches inside... i spilt about 300ml of coke on the keyboard, dried it completely and made sure it works... no shorts so thats all good. now i need to get rid of the stickiness inside some of the switches (thank goodness its only on some keys).

Saw a video of a guy suggesting that i hold down a the switch with some poking tool like a screw driver and pour hand sanitizer in there but i dunno. i was thinking maybe isopropyl alcohol will do the trick?? just pour a bit of alcohol in and repeatedly press the switch to get it where it needs to go, then leave it to dry for a few days...

Any other safer suggestions before i go and probably destroy my K95?

Hand sanitizer is isopropanol. I don't know if this is a good solvent for sugar. Try it first. As alternativ start with H2O and after this Isopropanol.

Isopropyl alcohol is an alcohol solvent. and its easy to clean P stuff with coz it evaporates at room temps.. so it doesnt leave and residue behind. what i wanna know is it okay to stick down into my switches. And getting my hands on pure H2O is gonna be a nightmare. i outlive in USA where you can buy guns at the same place you buy your pants... and nothing less than pure H2O is not going anywhere near my keybaord

isopropyl alcohol. pour it on the switch and press it until your heart desires.

I wouldn't pour anything into the switch. See if you can open them. Then use a cotton swap to clean inside and be very careful not to bend the metal contacts.

:-P too late... poured into the switches, actually turned out quite well. it did what i wanted it to do. just use a syringe while pushing down the switch with a screwdriver to pour a small amount of alcohol and press the key vigorously. then leave the switches to dry for a while. i left mine under some display spot light i have in my room for a few hours and then let it evaporate naturally coz it was a bit cold at the time and i am lazy (the longer the safer basically) for about 2 days then when i plugged in my keybaord, it worked perfectly again :-)

Just dont over do it with the alcohol, like just a very small amount, like we talking milliliters here. i think it was about 2ml?? but very small. but then it also depends how bad it is inside the switch so start out a tiny bit and add a lil more until it feel smooth again.
