So, I have an EVGA 750w GQ PSU and I've been thinking about getting a bigger case, namely the Corsair Carbide 740 Air edition. Looking at it, it feels as if my PSU's cables won't actually be able to reach my motherboard, maybe I'm wrong but it can't hurt to be prepared. I was thinking of ordering some BitFenix cable extensions from amazon but my query is; are they dangerous to use? Is there a risk to components?

I've been using an extension for the 8 pin CPU for a while now. Never had any issues. My case is an NZXT Phantom full tower, so I needed a little extra length in the cashier's if my OCZ PSU when I first got it. No shorts or melting it anything.

Still use it on my Corsair PSU now. You'll be fine. No worries.

I assume as long as the cable extender is an 8 pin eps12v you can put a 4+4 or 8pin cable in to it to extend?

Or you can purchase whichever kind you need. The x8 I have doesn't split apart, its solid. Some of them split for x4 some don't. Otherwise, you can get the single one you need.
