Copying Steam game files?

Go to solution Solved by TheSLSAMG,

It will be fine. You will have to begin the download on his end as well as your end for the proper folders to be created. As |\/|odern said, maybe about 5MB. I assume this is the same guy who needed the Windows updates?

Hi all,

So I recently built my friend his first PC and I put a GTX 770 in it and there was a bundle in which Assassin's Creed: Black Flag, Splinter Cell Blacklist and Batman Arkham Origins came with the card, but he has an extremely slow internet connection and it would take his days, maybe even weeks to download all of them. So I was wondering, if I signed in to his Steam account on my PC and downloaded the games for him, could I then copy those game files on to an external HDD and just paste them over to his Steam directory on his PC and Steam would see that as him having downloaded them or would he still have to download them? Oh and it's only Batman on Steam so the other two are on Origin so could I do the same with Origin?

Thanks,

Paul.

Note that you need to start the download(like 5mb max would be downloaded, if any), then it will recognize the files, for me at least.
