Greetings! today a suspicious pop up keeps appearing:

Spoiler

5a7bac1f3f2a0_SuspiciousPopup.png.7c482f63b031319ad80785cf7224b920.png

is this legitimate? I see no reason why it would not be . . .         But I don't trust things that pop up by themselves. . .      like weeds. . .

Anyway, any advice would be appreciated.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
        In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
        In Flanders fields.

Cry havoc and let slip the Togs of war.  (Signature V3)

first of all, use something like ccleaner to see any unwanted software installed on your computer - if something unwanted exists, google it, if its no good, uninstall it

then see if the pop up exists

also you need to mention if you even use windows media player or not. - if you do then its much more likely to be a legitimate pop up

I don't think it wants to install anything, I says it will do a error check or something, Might be lying to me. . .

@TheClueLessMajority, the pop up looks legitimate but what is triggering it may not be and there is where you may find the illegitimate sucker.

well, I've been using Windows Media Player a lot recently (been going through some old video) maybe it's set to trigger at a certain usage time?

Okay, I let the thing run, It said "Windows media Player library corrupted" I selected not to fix it, I haven't had any problems with it, I guess time will tell if it will stop bothering me. . .

Not sure about that but i stopped using WMP when i found VLC which was a long time ago. As you chose Do Not FIx when you ran the Windows troubleshooter, which is what that pop up is, you have not fixed the issue that is causing it so it may reappear.

A water-cooled mid-tier gaming PC.

This is just the built in windows troubleshooter reporting a problem to you and asking you if you want to fix it.

Try typing troubleshoot after hitting the windows key and try some of the troubleshooters out there.

They all look exactly like that window.
