What are good temps for the i5 8600k?

So I'm getting around 24-26c when on google/watching videos etc.

Around 45-50 when playing games but it depends on the cores.

I'm just asking what a safe temperature is for the CPU basically, I can't go any higher with my clockspeed w/o crashing in benchmarks and games.

anything under 80 is my personal preference, but they'll be fine even up until 90/95.

What OC are you running? Those temps are great. I'm running at 4.8GHz on a Cryorig H7 cooler at about 60-70c while gaming. Anything under 90c is generally safe, but I prefer to keep it below 80c.

After 90 degrees or so it will start throttling which will slow down the cpu, so anything under 85 is good.

Alright, guess I could try and push the voltage a bit higher to get to 5.

consider 1.45v the absolute max.

That voltage seems kind of high. I was using less than that at 5.1GHz. I'm at 1.2v for 4.6GHz. I think I was at 1.25 or something for 4.8GHz. Have you tried lowering the voltage? Or is that the only voltage that is stable for you?

Only voltage that's stable, guess I have bad luck.

Could just be that I got lucky with my chip. I've seen one person over on reddit get similar overclocks to me at similar voltages and people seem to think he's got a golden chip. With better cooling I could 100% get 5.2GHz on this without a delid. Even on this Cryorig H7 temps were only just passing 90c at 5.1GHz, and it's a £30 cooler. With a good AIO I'd imagine those temps would drop to 75-80c.

Yea probably bad luck in the silicon lottery i have my ryzen 1600x oc to 3.8 @ 1.25v which is very low but have to ramp it up to 1.4 or even more for a stable 4ghz oc which i am not comfterable with.

Anyways back to the topic. Your temps are superb so no worries there. Yea i think the treshold for thermal throttling is about 90 or 95 degrees but for a longer lifespan i wouldnt push it much pass 70 (not that there is anything wrong with 80 but better safe than sorry)

Yeah, thanks for the info though.

Guess I'll probably leave it at that.

your temps are fine. my rule of thumb is nothing over 70c regardless to what the company tells you.
