Hey I'm looking at a 8700k,

either retail and will delid my self, how safe is it with the tool ?

Or getting a pre binned 5ghz and delidded one for 500 from ocuk

i keep seeing reference to -2 avx or 5ghz(4.8avx) what's this all about ?

Atm I have a 1700x at 3.9 and I'm not sure if zen plus will be a flop so I'm considering a 8700k sell my 1070's and get a 1080ti too

What are you using the pc for? The 8700k isnt' a big upgrae, esp in games with a 1070.

AVX makes a lot more heat, so it will clock lower to use less power and be more stable.

Mostly gaming, but I want to get into streaming and I do a bit of YouTube video editing

what programs use avx ?

I have 2 1070's

really id keep your 1700 for now, won't be a big upgrade.

AVX is normally used by things like video encoding, 3d rendering, lots of scientific compute. Not used in games.
