Help liquid cooling a gpu

Hey everyone, I have an EVGA FTW3 1080ti. Temps with the stock cooler are crap in my case (49C idle) and I want to try upgrading to a liquid loop. I've never done a custom loop before and won't mind trying one. Based on my research, I've basically am conflicted between buying an EKWB MLC phoenix or building my own custom loop. Based off of the EKWB configurator, a custom loop would cost me roughly 500 to 600 USD (depending on the reservoirs and tubing). The Phoenix MLC is roughly 400 USD after shipping and taxes. I am most concerned with the possibility that the phoenix will leak (I heard the previous models were recalled because of leaks). But is the risk of a leak worth the 100 to 200 USD I'll save by going AIO?

If you just want the cooling performance you can get an AIO cooling solution with an adapter bracket that will cut the cost significantly and provide similar performance.

Anything can and will leak, install will decide that. If you wonna try the mlc kit go for it. Will be fine if installed correctly.

Prolly the zero fan mode mixed with poor airflow.

Fans are at 20%. At 100%, temps are 35C at idle.
