So I just upgraded my motherboard and Cpu and Benchmarks are LOWER then my previous setup

Old setup

Asus Z97-A

8 GB DDR3 ram

I5 4690K

Gigabyte GTX 1080 Extreme gaming edition

256GB Samsung 850 Pro OS drive

I got 8600 on time spy with this setup

New setup

Asus Prime x370 Pro

16 GB DDR4 Ram 3000

1800x Ryzen

Gigabyte GTX 1080 Extreme gaming edition

256GB Samsung 850 Pro OS drive

With this setup I got 7800 time spy

Latest CPU MB and GPU drivers.

Also Unziping files is painfully slow also. ~20Mb a sec.

I didn't reinstall the OS for the new setup, I know it should be done but I dont think that would cause such a dramatic drop.

I recommend reinstalling your OS, That is the only thing I can think of that might cause worse performance that you should get.

Agreed reinstall OS, check to make sure all drivers are installed, and make sure your ram is actually running at 3000mhz.

Reinstalling OS is advised since he went from Haswell to Ryzen, full platform changes are nice to go new fresh install of the OS... regardless OP should have 1 thing in mind the i5 4690k and Ryzen 7 1800x have fairly similar single thread performance meaning you're likely not going to feel difference in gaming performance at all, with exceptions though obviously.

You don't really need to do that anymore tbh. I've done it a couple of times between platforms and it worked fine.

Single experiences are not the entire thing, not looking into an argue, OP has issues software side, reinstalling windows fixes it if he needs to, now if you have better troubleshooting steps you want to explain to OP that's all more welcome.

Yeah posting the results and actually looking at the results before reinstalling. Who knows how much he needs to backup and reinstall afterwards..

I think I may have found an issue. I don't know if it's the reason for the benchmark score but my 850 pro is having very low iops about 44k w/r. seems it's a Samsung support for amd chipset thing. I haven't found a solution yet but it looks like there is one because others have posted proper ssd speeds with similar setups.

I wanted to get a new m.2 drive anyway so since I saw the plextor m8pe on sale I jumped on a 512 for that. might as well do a new install since I'm upgrading the os drive.

it will take a week to deliver so I'll redo the bench after all that.

as for the Samsung drive. when windows 10 preview was released it took more then a year for Samsung to update their magician software to support it. the slackers probably know it's an issue but are just taking their time to support it until amd market share becomes relevant.

I'll post again in a week

Are you watching temps with Ryzen Master or HWinfo? Just making sure you didn't leave the plastic on the bottom of it

So I got the new drive and did a complete windows install. Benchmark is still exactly the same 7800 on timespy basic. I couldnt find my timespy result from before with the I5 so I re-ran a firestrike benchmark (since the gpu is the same it shouldn't make a difference between dx11 and dx12).

1800x score is

Graphics Score
22 014
Physics Score
19 605
Combined Score
6 763
total 17697

4690k score is
Graphics Score
21 265
Physics Score
8 318
Combined Score
8 231
Total Score 15278

So the CPU has had a positive effect on my system.
