Best thermal paste for MacBook Pro?

I just got a mid-2014 Retina MacBook Pro from an uncle, it's had champagne spilled on it almost 2 years ago, but other than a cracked screen it seems fine. I'm planning to do a thorough clean/dust as soon as my tools for that get here. While I'm at it, I may as well replace the thermal paste, since it's hitting 90-100C pretty easily (it is also full of dust though). What's the best I can get, other than the liquid metal type stuff that can eat away at things?

I've used Gelid GC Extreme on my laptops and that has worked fine. Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut also sounds good.

Just get any popular thermal paste out there. The difference should be just 1-2 degrees that you won't notice.

This is testing on a desktop cpu though and they don't suffer nearly as much from inefficient heat transfer like laptops do. Overall kryonaut is the best non-conductive paste that he can get.

So what? Another degree or 2 for laptops? Would it make a difference?

At max temp it would, it'd be the difference between 100C and 98C, and at those temps the cooler the better IMO.

The question is: wtf are you doing with your pc to get that high temp? Are you stress testing for fun?

No, it's a mid-2014 rMBP. In bootcamp while playing older games, it gets to 100C easily. Part of the compromise of stuffing a computer inside a thin aluminum chassis without much ventilation.

Yeah I'd say it would make a huge difference when it comes to laptops, my own G751 got a 10 degree decrease from some IC diamond (compared to stock) and usually only hovers around the mid 80's rather than mid 90's. I actually want to do an application of kyronaut to see if that'll bring temps down even more.

I would suspect high 80's to low 90's with some kryonaut, anything's better at that point.

Truth. At 60-70 degrees, the difference between 65 and 68 is tiny, but at or above 90C anything is an improvement. I'm sure temps will be better after a good dusting as well.
