Hey guys, from the title you may or may not be wondering but can anyone build a pc with i7-8700k the reason I don't want a graphics card is because the prices are a bit too much and also because I have access to cloud gaming so I don't think it will be a big problem if I don't have a graphics card. but my budget is 1000-1500.

Please god no

What you actually want to do is wait until the 12th I think it is, for the Ryzen APUs to drop, they'll be pretty alright at 1080p gaming, especially if you get one of the 75HZ IPS free-sync displays to go with it.

The $169 model is basically an R5 1400 + RX 550 assuming you have fast memory

are you interested in a completely silent PC or an ITX system? Do you already have a display?

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Ryzen does about 100fps on average in AAA games, Coffee Lake will do 120fps

But here's ryzen scaling to get a feel where the R5 1400 will end up whenever you put a high end GPU into the system

Gaming on the APU will be better should you get that free-sync display, they're only like $150 USD, are you in the US? What kind of system did you want?

Then you should probably get on AM4 so you have the option of upgrading to an 8 core R7 2600 Ryzen 2 later on, though X470 motherboards are coming as well

But what kind of system? just a standard best performance per dollar? Or something more specific?

Save your money for now and buy later when prices drop. Doesn't sound like you NEED a high-end graphics card if you're asking whether you can get away with integrated graphics. I would absolutely recommend to wait for better price to performance ratio on your next purchase (which would include going for say an i5 8400 over the i7 8700k as gaming performance is almost identical and not far off in editing). If you need a slight boost over an iGPU, you can find cards in the sub $100 range that will offer far better performance (though almost anything is better than an iGPU).

Plenty of games you can run on an iGPU though, you might just have to go a bit retro. Newer stuff like Rimworld, Cuphead, Minecraft, etc. would work, you'd just have to dig around.

Then something like that, RAM pricing sucks, and the power supply is overkill, you could get cheaper stuff overall

included the free-sync display for reference, that one is free-sync over HDMI I'm pretty sure

Replace the R5 1500X with whatever APU you end up with

BUT THE OLD MOTHERBOARD WILL NEED A BIOS FLASH TO USE THE NEW APUS

So maybe make sure you wait for Revision motherboards that ship with the new BIOS

So basically don't buy anything yet, maybe X470 launches with the APUs too

Most likely isn't worth going too far past 3000mhz, overclocking the GPU with 3200mhz is already pretty good

Also X470 might bring better memory support overall. We'll have to see whenever reviews are out
