Phone doesn't hold a charge with Volta Charger?

I bought myself a Volta charger for Christmas after seeing it featured in several videos. After a few days of using it, I noticed my phone wasn't holding a charge as long as it usually did. My phone is a Motorola G5 Plus. I've had for only a few months and have had no issues with the battery before now. I use it very little, so a full charge usually lasts well over 40 hours. I tested to see if the new cable was the cause by alternating between the Volta cable and a normal charging cable every time I charged my phone. I used the same 5V=850mA AC/USB adapter for every charge and my daily usage habits did not vary much. I found after repeating this for a few weeks that my phone battery lasted 70-50% as long when charged with the Volta charger. Also, if I did not let it charge to 100%, my battery seemed to deplete much faster. One night, I disconnected my phone before going to sleep when it was above 90%, and when I got up 6 hours later it was around 60%.

I contacted Volta's customer support and they were... less than helpful.

Has anyone else experienced this, or is a cable even capable of affecting the battery life like this?
