Can one PC stream games to another PC?

Bhav

Can I stream games from my 8700k main rig to my G4400 backup rig?

Reasoning:

- Whole (council) house just for me soon.

- Gaming PC with 1440p monitor and piano and soundproofing and recording studio in second bedroom.

- Backup PC with 1200p monitor next to bed in main bedroom. Also my 1280x720 monitor on my 8700k too.

- Stream games from 8700k and 1080 Ti to G4400 / 1200p while in bed, yay or nay?

- Also can it be done if I turn the G4400 into a NAS & Security camera monitoring setup?

*4K big TV for streaming in the lounge too, except a year or two later because I'm not wealthy and have to get stuff bit by bit. Need to get posh wardrobes and matching bed frame from Hammond's first.

- Also my current 150x75cm chipboard tabletop will become my dining table with 4 new normal peg legs.

- A new 200x60cm chipboard tabletop to go next to my bed with the current storage cabinet legs (dressing table & G4400 build here).

- Either a new 160x110/80cm solid wood corner desk from IKEA for my main setup in second bedroom, or if there's enough funds / interest free finance available, a nicer bespoke fitted desk from the Hammond's, but they'll probably want £1k+ for what can be had for £250 from Ikea so likely just the IKEA desk or even two for much less.

Oooooh, I shall draw plans in MS Paint soon, tomorrowish after finishing off both builds also tomorrowish because I still need sleep and my white case isn't here yet for another hour.

Oh great, I already got one foolishly not realizing it wouldn't stream to 4k. But aha, I can use it to stream to the the G4400.

But will it work with a NAS OS?

I already have all the screens I need for now, as long as they don't break when moving, I'll have to get moving insurance too for that. Just also want a 4k TV in the lounge, and 21:9 monitor for the main PC later on.

For you, I have no doubt about that. But the main question of the thread has nothing to do with all those details. IMO.

Steam OS is basically a glorified repack of Ubuntu, so yes.

Windows has been used as a NAS OS for ages at this point, so yes. TBH I'm more than happy with my Windows 10 NAS. Little to no issues when communicating with other devices on the network (there is ONE asshole Linux machine that doesn't want to play nice, even though other Ubuntu machines work just fine).

Oh right, I'll just stick to Win 10 then, I already have two licenses. I thought NAS needed a different OS, or am I thinking of Unraid?

Lots of PICs soon. Double PCs completed VERY SOOOOON, albeit I need sleep still.

Well I already had double PCs, I just shrunk my X99 to a mini Z370, and am getting all the last bits needed today (just the case left to arrive soon).
