Rough Start

Well, its been a bit of a rough start, but I've finally started my computer build. I got most of the components. Only need a Graphics Card now. Haven't decided on which one. Any ideas, let me know. Tips and advice are greatly appreciated. I haven't done this for myself in years. Its different than building for a client.

Comments and suggestions are appreciated. This is going to be a continuous build. At least until I find it looking to the way I want it.

Good components - the only thing I would comment on is to clean up the wiring a bit, which will help show it off (and help airflow a bit). Like the AUX cable, run that behind the mobo, or under the motherboard. Bundle up cables where you can, stick excess behind mobo tray, etc. Keep things looking neat cable wise which will help highlight the rest of your build.

For a Video card - what is budget? The new Ti Boost cards are supposed to be pretty nice. 7790, 7850, etc...

The wiring I'm still in progress with. The AUX power cable can't be moved at this time as its about 3 inches too short.

Tidy up the cables a bit, use zip ties if you don't have any routing options behind the case, or you could twist cables together to make a cleaner look. Also try getting black SATA cables, the red ones stand out quite a lot.

I was hoping the red would stick out. All black on the inside of a case looks ugly to me. I plan to do a red, white, and blue theme on the inside. :) Once I move into my new place I'll start work on the new custom interior pieces.

You guys are awesome, thanks for the feedback.

Remove excess drive cages (not the brackets, the cages themselves), do some custom sleeving on the cables and go for some better cable management.

Custom cable sleeving goes a long way in adding a nice aesthetic touch and cleaning up the look of everything.
