PSU Recommendation

Go to solution Solved by seon123,

450W is enough. 550W is plenty for an overclocked system. RMA the PSU if you can. Depending on what's available, you can get a tier 1-2 PSU like the RMx, Straight Power 11, Focus Plus, Whisper M or G2/G3.

Hey everybody, so my PSU after 4 years of service broke down (if interested you can read my other forum post that explains everything):

So this power supply calculator says that for my system an 700w PSU is recommended: https://outervision.com/b/EGjIqe

But i would like to upgrade in the future my 780ti to a 980ti so I decided to go for a 750W to be safe. Browsing the Internet and Amazon I narrowed to these PSU's:

1- http://www.corsair.com/en-eu/tx-m-series-tx750m-750-watt-80-plus-gold-certified-psu-eu

2- https://www.amazon.de/Netzteil-BeQuiet-PowerZone-Bronze-BN211/dp/B00EJCAV1S

3- http://www.corsair.com/en-eu/rmx-series-rm750x-750-watt-80-plus-gold-certified-fully-modular-psu

4- http://www.thermaltake.com/products-model.aspx?id=C_00002989

I need a new PSU ASAP so I went for the ones that have Amazon Prime here where I live :P

Any Recommendation ?

-Frequencies DON'T represent everything and in many cases that is true (referring to Individual CPU Clocks).

Yeah I'm trying to RMA the other one but it's taking for ever, and since I live in Europe it will take a lot more for the shipping. I will probably sell the old one if they fix it.

So you agree that even if I upgrade my 780 Ti to a 970 Ti and OC CPU and GPU a 550W will be plenty ?

970 Ti? If it's the 980 Ti or the 1070 Ti, either will be fine with a 450W PSU. Overclocked, it'll still be fine.

:)

There's no 970 Ti.

550W is realistically enough for 99% of people's systems. It only becomes not enough when you have something like a decacore OC'd CPU and a 1080Ti with OC, or when you start getting into high-end multi-GPU configurations. I wouldn't put two 1080s on a 550W PSU.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

Ye I mistyped meant 980 Ti, but thanks a lot to all of you for your help. Decided to go for a 550W be quiet PSU at the end, mainly because it's a German company and I live here at the moment, so in case of any future problems they would be handled faster :D and also they have a 7 yeas warranty which is nice.
