Hey there, i'm just wondering as to wether or not there's been much news on the next generation of NVIDIA's gaming gpus? I havent been able to find much, but i'm not really so good at researching that stuff.

I really want to know if it's worth waiting to add them in a new personal build

There isn't much news at this point in time, but it is very likely that miners will jump on those as soon as they are released.

Considering you can't buy a graphics card anywhere even if you wanted to, I would say yes it is worth waiting.

I have someone offering me two unopened 1080 Ti's of the ROG STRIX variety xD But i'm worried that in two months it'll become old news thanks to the new Volta tech

1080tis will still be good next generation. games wont suddenly become more difficult to run and with mining and all most people probably wont be able to get their hands on a Volta card.

Even if that happened, the cards are totally fine, so there's no reason to even worry IMO.

I'm sure you're right, and even if the next gen cards come out it'll be like the 980 Ti almost equaling the 1080, therefore making it quite near the top until the Ti versions of THOSE cards come out. I'm sure i'll be ready for an upgrade by then, thanks!!

Considering ampere is going to be a refresh of Pascal I would snag those 1080tis

What? a 1080 Ti 2 way SLI already is more powerful in gaming than the TITAN V alone which is a best case scenario for Volta or Ampere, really the 1080 Ti will be closer to the 2080 in performance than the 980 Ti was to the 1080, the node shrink is much less meaningful while this silicon really is on its Turbo Boost 3.0 limit... as said it is a "refresh" nothing truly new.

 

TITAN V is "impressive" because it feature a huge die with absurd amount of CUDA Cores, those are all expensive why do you think the card costs 3k? not the way they can go for mass GTX cheaper cards production.

SLI 1080ti's won't be "old news" for the better part of a decade dude, even if a single more powerful card where to release those 1080ti's will still kick the shit out of most games for years to come, unless you need 4k ULTRA settings 120+ FPS gaming you won't need to upgrade from that setup for a while, hell 1 1080ti is more then enough for damn near everything.
