So, my dad wants Microsoft Office. Originally he was going to buy it. However, I once had Office 2013 then upgraded to Office 2016. Since I don't use Office 2013 anymore and it's just sitting in my account not being used, could I add him to my family account and give him the 2013 Office. And I'm 17 so would it still be possible to add him in the family on my Microsoft or would I have to join his and then could I still share it with him? Thanks for reading. Hope someone can help.

Sry, I don't know the specific answer to your question but I do have an alternative.  It's called LibreOffice and it will do everything that MSOffice will do.  And you can download it free.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but upgrade means you are using same license to new version. Meaning that if old version is being used with same license, you lose its activation. Thats how it works with OS and literally every other software. MS is too greedy to make so stupid mistake.

This is exactly correct - consumer retail software upgrades use your existing license when you upgrade from the prior version. However, if you "upgraded" by purchasing a new retail copy of Office 2016, then technically speaking your old copy of Office 2013 should still be able to work on another computer. @Tim Williams you might just need to manually activate it when entering the license key by phoning the Microsoft Automated Activation line and telling them you have Office 2013 installed on 0 computers other than the current one.
