Nicehash Profit Fluctuation?

Before the graphics card pricing went through the roof, I was able to grapb a Zotac Amp 1080 for 500 dollars. So now I am mining nicehash with it so that I can make some money when I am not using the computer. I am checking the statistics and the dashboard throughout the day and my income per day continually fluctuates. Sometimes it is 8 dollars per day and then 5 minutes later it will drop to 2.5 dollars per day. Is this normal? I am not running any overclock yet on my gpu either.

the rate of the bitcoin is fluctuating heavily at the moment so that's why  your earnings drop

ask me about your system builds, AIO's, CPU's, PSU's, and GPU's.

~Moved to F@H / Boinc / Mining

I've never worked with nicehash and I generally recommend people mine directly to a pool rather than through a middleman. There have been fluctuations in coin prices recently though not enough to warrant a change from 8/day to 2.5/day.

A quick run of the profitability calculator reveals an expected revenue of around $4 per day on a GTX 1080, before power cost.

https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/calculator/zec?HashingPower=550&HashingUnit=H%2Fs&PowerConsumption=160&CostPerkWh=0&MiningPoolFee=1

That would be mining zcash directly to a pool.

You can't really go by the daily projected too much. It's close, but the best way is to check your actual earnings at the same time each day, or check it at 24hr intervals.

when I check mine, it's within a couple dollars of the projected. When the projected makes big swings it doesn't stay like that long. I figure it's switching coins or something.
