Evga g3 650w sound

Maxan98

So i've built my computer and changed so that all the fans are running it quiet.

But now the only sound that is comming out from it is a pretty noitcable sound from the PSU, which is an Evga G3 650w power supply.

Any thing i should try before thinking of buying a new and quieter one?

Check the decibel level in the technical specs first..?

Probably gaming or helping technophobes with tech...

Those don't specify anything regarding noise

Oh. OK. Go for a fanless PSU?

No! Why?!
Just because some people are too incompetent to use a good fan and/or fan controller?!

There is just no justification for those these days.

ANd just because it doesn't have a fan doesn't mean its totally silent/quiet because there is some electronics noise.

A fan controller to control their PSU fan yeah? good one.

There are some highly rated fan-less PSU's available. They'll be much more silent.

Every PSU with a fan has a fan controller...

There are some very silent PSU with fan available. Fanless can't be much quieter than that...

Yes, not one that is accessible to most though in terms of adjustment.

And no, fan-less WILL be quieter. There is no fan.

If you spend $100 more on the PSU to get a fanless one, you'll compromise on for example the CPU cooler. That'll make the system louder.

Most high end PSUs have a semi passive mode. In a low RPM mode, the PSU will create less noise than any other component.

You don't know how good high quality fans at low rpm are. ANd how low they rotate.

And you are missing that the PSU also has some electronics noise.

So stop propagating propaganda. Because thats what it is.

Because a PSU has a fan doesn't make it louder.

Because a PSU has no fan doesn't make it quieter.

That's just something you imagine because you believe that the fan is the only thing that makes noise - well, its not.

I do not hear mine at all. But, my haf 932 advanced has a 230 or something mm fan on the side panel so that may be why.
