Samsung 950 evo m.2 NVMe

Soo I have a question. If the motherboard that I own doesn’t have an m.2 and it has 3 pcie 3.0 x16 and 4 pcie 2.0 x1 if I buy a m.2 adapter will I be getting regular performance with it?

Yup. As long as the adapter supports the M.2 M-key and 4 lanes of PCI-e

Yeah, but unless you are 4K video editing the extra speed with the M.2 does not make a single difference in startup times, game load times, etc

For day to day tasks and normal usage, the 850 EVO is a fine choice.

It's probably the best bang for the buck a consumer can get while still getting a quality SSD.

 

It is true that NVMe SSDs really only start to make sense when doing things like video rendering and other tasks that move large quantities of sequential data back and forth to disk.

 

The only reason for a regular user buy an NVMe SSD, like the Samsung 950/960 drives is pure bling and bragging rights. *coughcough*
